Social Distance Sewing

As the COVID-19 pandemic grows, more and more events are being canceled. There’s been a lot of joking about the situation online, but I know a lot of people will be turning to quilting as a way to cope with the uncertainty and fears. And you can use your extra sewing time to finish some quilt tops and then get a discount on their quilting.

What is Social Distancing?

The CDC and other health organizations are suggesting using social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This means avoiding unnecessary social situations and staying home as much as possible. Many people are working from home and schools are being canceled.

For many quilters this means a lot more time in their sewing room, both out of necessity and as a coping mechanism.

Look On the Bright Side

This is a great chance to finally use up all your hoarded fabric, or a great excuse to buy more! Many local quilt shops are staying open and are taking extra measures to ensure cleanliness. This is a great time to continue to support the local economy and build your fabric stash. If you aren’t feeling well or are concerned about going into a shop, there are also plenty of great websites you could purchase fabric from as well. Or you can just use the chance to finish projects or use that fabric you’ve been hoarding for years.

Staying Connected

Instagram is a great way to stay connected with other quilts, even when there isn’t a global pandemic. But lets use  #socialdistancesewing to show off what we are working on during our time at home.

Quilt Alongs or group projects are a great way to stay connected when you can’t be near other people. Here’s a few options:

Cora Quilts just announced the Luna Mystery Quilt Along. This QAL is free and I’ll be offering a discount on quilting.

The BoulderMQG just started their Mystery Block of the Month Challenge for 2020. I’ll be designing one of the blocks later this year but you can get started now with the first block.

Finish up your Meadowland QAL and Sunshowers QAL quilt tops. They won’t be eligible for the Social Distancing Sewing discount, but you can get 20% off those!

Laura from LoewenSewen is organizing a Social Distancing group quilt.

The Quilting Deal

From now until April 30 I will be offering a Social Distance Sewing discount. The more quilt tops you finish, the bigger the discount.*

Send 1 Quilt – Get 5% Off

Send 2 Quilts – Get 10% Off

Send 3 Quilts – Get 15% Off

*The discount cannot be combined with any other discounts and the quilts will not count towards the Customer Loyalty Program. When requesting quilting mention Social Distance Sewing to receive the discount.

If you have any questions, please email me. Stay healthy and sane everyone.
